School Admission Arrangements 2024 -2025 Consultation

Bridge Academy Trust is the admission authority for Notley High School and Braintree Sixth Form and The Ramsey Academy, Halstead.

 

The admission authority is consulting on both schools proposed admission arrangements for 2024-2025 in accordance with paragraph 1.45 of the School Admissions Code (September 2021). 

Consultation Process 

The consultation process is open from Monday 19 December 2022 to Monday 30 January 2023.

 

If you wish to comment on the proposals, you must submit your response in writing during this period. Details of how to submit your views are set out below (see “How to respond to the Consultation”).

 

Following the consultation, the admission authority will consider any comments received and determine how to proceed. 

 

The admission authority will determine the final admission arrangements for the school by 28th February 2023.  The Admission Arrangements will be published on the Academy’s website by 15th March 2023.

Notley High School and Braintree Sixth Form

The Admission Authority proposes the changes detailed below to the policy.  Please note that the school admission arrangements may look different as they have been updated to a new admission authority template.

 

Current Wording:

Criteria 2: 

Children of staff members where:

a)  the member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made, and/or

 

b)  the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.

 

Proposed Change:

Criteria 1.3.2:

Children of staff members where:

a)  the member of staff has been employed at Bridge Academy Trust for a minimum of two years at the date of application for admission and/or

 

b)  the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.

The Ramsey Academy

The Admission Authority proposes the changes detailed below to the policy.  Please note that the school admission arrangements may look different as they have been updated to a new admission authority template.

 

Current Wording - Changes 1:

Criteria 2: 

Children of staff members where:

a)  the member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made, and/or

 

b)  the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.

 

Current Wording Changes 2:

In the event of oversubscription within any of the above criteria, priority will be determined by straight line distance from home to school, those living closest being given highest priority.  Exceptional medical circumstances (supported by medical evidence) may override the above criteria (other than looked after children and previously looked after children).

 

Proposed Change 1:

Criteria 1.2.2:

Children of staff members where:

a)  the member of staff has been employed at Bridge Academy Trust for a minimum of two years at the date of application for admission and/or

 

b)  the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.

 

Proposed Change 2:

In the event of oversubscription within any of the above criteria, priority will be determined by straight line distance from home to school, those living closest being given highest priority. 

 

Reference to exceptional medical circumstances has been removed.
